Sputum smear positivity grade and chest X-ray findings in tuberculosis: A cross-sectional study

Despite many advances in the diagnosis, screening, and rapid treatment of tuberculosis, it is still a public health concern world. Due to importance this issue diagnosis reduction transmission infection disease especially where study conducted due high prevalence was done determine The relationship between sputum smear positivity grade chest X-ray findings pulmonary tuberculosis patients hospital southeast Iran. This cross-sectional performed on all with TB referencing centers Zabol city, Iran from 1 January 2015 30 December 2020. Sputum radiographic were evaluated. Data collected using form information finally analyzed by SPSS 22. Out 101 examined present study, 71 women men. mean age 62.68 ± 13.61 years. frequency opacity grades 1, 2, 3 71.4, 78.5, 76.5%, respectively. Frequency cavitation Grade 2 11.5%, 28.5% 52.9% respectively (P value 0.001). reticulonodular presentations 24.2, 7.1, 0%, In general, results showed that, increasing grading smears (1+, 2+, 3+), presentation increased significantly decreased significantly. (, Cavitation can help physicians better diagnose TB.
